Beware of Spoilers!
Heroine (Charlotte): 4/5
Hero (Spencer): 3/5
HEA: yes but could have been better if it was a couple years ahead instead of 6 months
Average score: 3 Stars
Best Quote: “I’ve fallen in love with my best friend.”
Worst Quote: “I have an encyclopaedic understanding of what a woman wants…and giving it to her. I achieved full fluency in female body language, the clues, and the gestures.”
Spencer is a handsome, hot and filthy rich guy who sleeps around. Charlotte is his ‘best friend’ and partner of their business. Spencer needs to appear ‘steady’ (and I don’t remember why, something to do with his father’s business?). Anyway, he asks Charlotte to be his fake fiancé for a week and that’s how the story began.
As I started reading this book I admired Charlotte and started to hate Spencer and I was so looking forward to the downfall of Spencer. In fact, that was the main motivation behind continuing with the book!
Spencer’s downfall was quite anti-climactic – there was no redemption or work on his part. It was just ‘oh I love her’ and he then gets her. No drama, no hysterics and no grovelling!!
Enjoyed reading a romance from the male POV (even though it was annoying at times!)
